I have done it twice. Once at Orlando and once at the Vegas track. You will love it. The only real requirement is being able to shift a stick. They will take you on the track in a van and show you the line you will be taking then there will be classroom with some safety info and general knowledge of the operation of the car. When it is your turn they will strap you in the car, punch in a video stick so you have a DVD of your experience and tell you to follow the instructor when he leaves in front of you. After that it is mirror driving the instructor. Depending how you look to the spotter and out the instructors rear view mirror will determine how fast he will let you go. Because of the rookie experience being your 1st time there is a predetermined speed you will have the opportunity to go. I doubt you will hit 150 for an average but should get to 150 at some point on your last lap for a top speed. When your laps are done you follow him down pit road and there is a sign that will tell you to kick the car out of gear and you will coast to the spot they want you to park. If you do anything take the ride along for another $99. You will go 3 laps as a passenger with a pro driver who will do his best to scare the hell out of you. Well worth it and also lets you see how everything works in the car before you drive it. Enjoy!

Got a smoking deal on Dealathon recently. Doing the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience with a buddy for $80 a person in July at Medicine Hat, Alta. Only a 2.5 hr. drive. I didn't know he did schools in Canada but does this one out west and a couple in Ontario I believe. Its a short track but will be way more intense than the longer tracks where you have a bit of time to catch your breath.

Yeah unless you do the Kings Experience you get no coaching as that ride is broken down into 2 segments. Funny story at Vegas........I went over after my ride to talk to my instructor and started bullchitting with him. I asked him where he was from and he said I probably wouldn't know the place as he is from Revelstoke BC. Lmao!! I told him I ride there every 2 weeks in the winter. Turns out he ski's and sleds in the winter and races Sprint Cars in the summer. Small world.

i see now when you do it there is an instructor ridding shot gun with coaching you as you looks like they started converting to this late last year

I heard from another guy he thought they were doing that. That is more like the other driving experiences. When I did both mine I was alone in the car. Yes your fastest lap will be your last one. Have fun and give us some feedback and pics when you get back!

Did it in Vegas a decade ago, pulled some good speed out of the 700 hp cars... Was fun, not sure if I would waste the time again or money... To much redtape

Well you are in a $100,000 plus race car of there's. I can definately understand the need for the schooling. Just leave the wife in the casino and go racing on Day 2. Lol. When I did my drive at Vegas the crewchief said because they weren't full for the day they would give us another 18 laps for $199 which is a huge discount. He said you can spend it here or lose it at the tables back in town. Didn't take me long to climb back through that window. HaHa.

Did the experiance today at Daytona what a blast first couple of laps are pretty humbling till you get a feel for the car and the track
pull 1.4G's in turns 1-4 with the instructor ridding shot gun now they have been able to turn up the speeds hit a top speed of 169.3mph (on the certificate ) and had speeds of 169 on the final 3 laps (top speed of the morning i that i heard was 171.4 mph )
and won bragging rights over my buddies who had 159mph and 164 mph will post some pics after i get home after the 500
have a lot more respect for the pro's now couldnt imagine driving daytona or any of the tracks for 500 miles with 42 other cars all around you

Boss from work went and he said it was fun, but there was a LOT more throttle left to go, he had to follow the lead car and there was a light on the back that would change green or red to tell you to speed up or slow down. Sounds to me too much like he's driving from the car ahead.

I did the ride along couple years ago(2008?) also at Daytona. It cost me $100 to ride along for 3 laps at 170mph(that's what driver said) Not really sure. He hugged the wall, it seemed like I could just about touch it. The poles that hold up the fence sure whip by. Or could have followed a driver & done 100mph for 7 laps at $700 bucks. Figured I'm never going to be a nascar driver, just enjoy the ride & look around. The slower cars that were against the double yellow line seem to be crawling doing 70mph slower.

Maybe Danica should go RP driving school? lol.
