An interesting way to look at math.

A long time ago 3 guy's were on a cross country trip, they stopped at a motel and asked how much for a room for the night.Desk clerk said $30,the guy's all pulled $10 out of each of their
pocket's and paid.Sometime later the desk clerk was looking at the crappy vehicle these guy's were driving and remembered the poor shape of the clothes they were wearing. He went to their room with 5 $1 bill's and told the guy's he was going to give them a discount.
Each guy took $1 ,so $2 was still on the table that they could buy something with later on.
So ,if each guy paid $9 for the room and their was $2 on the table where is the missing dollar?
9 X 3 = 27 + 2 = 29

Very simple, your math is wrong.

After the discount they paid $25.00 for the room.

Each man paid $9.00 for a total of $27.00 and they had $2.00 remaining to spend on what they wanted.

9*3=27 minus 2 = $25.00

$30 left their pocket's($10 each),they got $1 back each,so they now paid $9 each............................
3x9= 27 total paid plus the 2 on the table is .................................................29
Their is still$1 missing, 29 is not 30.

the two on the table is a refund, therefor it is subtracted from the total, not added.

Total cost for the room after discount is 25.00

total paid by each man, 3 x 9 = 27.00 paid.

The desk clerk returned the balance in the form of 2 - 1 dollar bills.

3x9=27, then the remaining 2.00 is a credit for a total of $25.00 paid.

$25 divided by 3 = $8.33333333 each

Each paid $10 and $1 each was returned as change with $2 remaining to be split between 3 people. So total paid so far was $9 each

Each is owed another $.666666

3 X $.66666 = $2 remaining

They go to the bank and get small change for the $2 remaining and each takes $.666666 out of the change...now they have all paid $8.33333333 each for the room.

I don't want to ever go traveling with theses guys....the wealthiest guy should have paid for the room...;)
