So I think I am going to jump the doo ship to cat conflicted between a 2010 m8 or an 2008-10 m1000. I am fairly familiar with the differences and upgrades the m8 has gone through in the past few years. A2010 HCR is top in the running.

How ever if I was to go with a m1000 what changes were made between 2007-2010?

Anybody have seat time on both?

I am a 250lbs guy who likes technical riding and boondocking and brute power.

help me make up mind please

i not a big m1000 fan as i did own an new 08 snopro had great power but just alot of little problems that i didnt like i ride an 09 hcr m8 and wow what a diffrence this sled is so fun and light has really great power so i wouldnt look at any 08 get an 09 or 10 the 2010 m8 has just as much hp then a m1000 so my choice is pretty clear and if ur looking my 09 hcr is for sale so thats my 2 cents:d

I had a 2009 m1000 i like the sled lots of power but,, it was just that it had alot of nose weight never had any troubles with the sled ran good all time..but now i got a 2010 m8 162 snopro i like this sled way better than my old M1 its nice and light still has lots of power motor is still going very good at 600 miles with no trouble yet, but alot off ppl like the M1000 to so....but i just like the m8 better thats just my 2 cents worth..either way u well have a good sled...

To me your choice is easy 2010 m8. The reason being the 08 m1k is taking a step back they are not a bad sled just not a refined as a 09 or 10 m1k. I own a 07 m1k and spent a lot of time and money to upgrade. To name a few changes from 08 -09 1} engine reverse 2} powerclaw track 3} redesigned tunnel and running boards 4} reworked rear skid 5} adjustable handle bars [sno pro] 6} 20 or so pounds lighter. If you are looking to mod the sled then i would go with a 09 or 10 m 1000 as the money spent will be the biggest bang for the buck. Because done right they work well and the only complaint if heard is a sore neck for looking back for your buddys. lol If you are looking for a pull and go then the 10 m 8 will not disappoint. Hope this helps

I had an 09 XP 154, sold it and picked up an 09 M8 162 Sno Pro. Even with the longer track, it is leaps and bounds more nimble and manuverable than my XP was. I grabbed the 09 with intention of turboing it but if I was going to keep it stock I would have picked up the 2010 M8. You wont be disappointed they are a very fun machine and the power in the 2010's is sweet!!

I bought the 09 m1k sno pro. I love this sled bone stock with a can on it, it flat out hauls!! I love the way it handles the power is great and seems to be very reliable! Cant wait to see how it is with boost next season!!!

Have friends that have the 08,09,2010 m-8's. big difference in 08 and 09. the 09,10 are pretty equal and really dialed in. I have m-7, jumped on buddies 2010 m-8, snow checked yesterday, they are awesome I really like the telescoping handlebars for all types of riding plus snowcheck comes with new avalanche pack, went to avalanche class last week, they have a 94% survival rate out of about 200 cases, will not ride without the places we are going now

Doesn't matter what AC you get, just get off that Ski-Don't. Seriously. I do love my M8 though but a good buddy of mine has a geared down M1K and the thing runs like a raped ape. I'd like to gear my M8 down when I get the funds. If you have the dough for a 2010 M8 though, pull the trigger. You will not be disappointed!

I ride an '08 M1000 snopro nightfire. I have done a few goodies to it and it flat out hauls. The biggest problem that i have is keeping the skis within four feet of the snow. As for gearing it down i dont understand that one cause mine is stock gearing right now and it pulls REALLY hard out of the hole, i am looking at gearing mine up as it can easily pull higher gears. Both the 8 or 1000 are great machines. But like others have said look for atleast an '09 because of the changes that they made in '09. I have 5600km on my M1000 and had very little trouble that wasn't operator caused. We rent M8's and the '09 M8's have over 4000km and no issues with them either.

Well said, I too have an 07 M1 with many upgrades & the wife has 10 M8. The fun factor is with hers hands down!
