Well it's time to make a change from 02 polaris to an M8 or 1000. I have road a M8 a bit this winter and I think it's great, also the xp and dragon. They are all great sleds but there is something about the Arctic Cat I like better. What is the one to buy, the 153 or the 163? I like high marking more than anything but I still want to be able to turn it around, is there much difference. I guess what i'm getting at is the 163 a point and shoot machine or not to bad??

If high marking is your favorite then it's the 162 M1000 in 09.

I am not running a Cat. But I have ridden 136,156 & 166 tracks, All RMK's. I will take the 166 anyday over the other two for deep snow and the hills.I have no problem playing with the big machine..... But I donot jump if I don't have to. You say you like to mark more than anything.... Then go with the 162, I don't think you will have any problems turning. "The track is to long"... Thing! Is a bit over rated I say. Enjoy your new Cat.... You trader !!! :D ;) :)

hmmmmmmm......... yup, I like the way you think bigdawg!!!! ;)
it will depend on you & what you're comfortable on....... M1000 will climb & have all kinds of torque & HP where the 8 will be an awsum all around sled that will climb right there too.........
choices choices eh???

I have an M1000 and love it and I have the 153 track and I have had no problem in the deep snow. Great machine and I have no complaints yet.

That is the way to go. You won't be disappointed. The only reason i have a 153 is i was hoping for snow on the flatland someday. I rode a 162 in the mountains and it handles just the same.

The M1000 coming in at 486lbs for next year, that will be awesome.. Thats only like oh over 100lbs lighter than the nytro... And about 305hp more in stock form to..HUH.. Either M's would be good, but if you like highmarking then i'd go for the 1000. Do some mods to it and it'll absolutely rock... If you snowcheck a new M series sled you get a free boss seat too, thats another 10lb weight savings(atleast it was on the "08's)..

m8 with 900 big bore, or m1000 with a 1200 kit from Terra Alps racing, 153" track for track speed, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Two stroke is definitely the way to go in my opinion as is the 1000, but i would look at the 162's they wont hurt your boondocking ability but will help you out on those days where the powder is deep... The nice thing with the cats is the fact that isn't that hard to put a comaplast extreme track under them which is a 2.5: lug track.. They work really well...

go big my friend ! i have a 08 m 1000 with a 153 camo exstream ! and it's not enough track for that 1000 just spins and hardly puts a load on when it's time for a track it's going to get a 162 atleast i hardly ride in the mountains thats why i got the 153 and it's not enough track in the flat eather.ive rode 162's and they don't turn any harder not enough to count
