I'd skip the Kitty Cat. Go right to a 120. The kitty cats are only good for packed snow and are really designed for 2 or 3 year olds tops. All my boys started on Z120's a the age of 3 - 3 1/2. The 120's with the gov. eliminated can motor through a foot of powder no problem.

How old is your son?

OK so I was a big kid on a kitty kat, but they didn't make a 120 back then!

I was 4 1/2 in this pic.

I would try to find a 120, they go through way more snow. We have both sitting in our shop and the 120 is by far WAY better.

I had to laugh when you said to pep them up a bit ryder, my better half is thinking he might just do that with one of the 120's LOL
