Has anyone else had both knees totally replaced in 4 months?

As the title asks, and how was your recovery and ability after having tkr? I rode my sled before I had my knee replaced on Dec 13, 2017. I was back on my sleds just after the first of February. Now as of Wednesday March 28 I am having my second knee replaced, so hopefully 2018/2019 will be an awesome year for me. Just curious about others experience with this procedure.

Sounds painful. Worn cartilage, goes fast when there are slight tears. Good luck on knee repair. Had bad MX accident in early 80’s (ACL,MCL, Meniscus), no knee replacement yet.

Haven’t had cartilage in my knee for 42 years and it’s completely screwed.
Busted femur last year and screwed knee up even worse and needed a plate put in that I just had removed .
Hope to get new knee this time next year. Really sick of hobbling around . Lol
Hope new knee will be a huge improvement.

My right one that was replaced in December is doing quite well. Looking forward to getting the left one replaced in 5 days, losing the bone on bone pain is great.

I'm scheduled to get my left knee replaced this year... Hopefully soon. Then I can get back into sledding, I hope

You're waiting on the hospital? Took me 10 months from when my surgeon and I booked to get my first one done, did the exercises they tell you to do and all is coming around fairly quickly. Went in for my 6 week check up on February 1 and we booked my left, March 28 I get my left one done. I have went sledding since my first one was replaced and got close to 300 miles this year. Next year should be a good one. Good luck with your knee replacement.

My uncle has had one knee done twice, other 3 times, and now both hips. He's 43. Knee replacements weren't a bad wait, but the hips were over a year wait. Last knee replacement was because his foot never left a sled footwell when his body did. From hobbling around on his knee, his hips finally waved the white flag and said they couldn't prop him up any longer. He looks pretty darn good right now and is probably in the best shape he's been in a decade.

Personally I have not experienced this, but my cousins wife did. She went from crutches and pain to walking completely normal,it really was amazing. She had both knees done. You'll be riding like nothing happened next year.

Hopefully we have the snow next year that we had this year! Going to bust my azz rehabbing these knees to get the best I can out of them.

how old are you and what problem are you having , I need a new one but say I’m too young, they say 20 years life on a new one and poor success on replacements.

I'm 54 and had no cartilage left in either knee. My surgeon says he does not have an age limit if you need a knee you get a knee.

Get a different Doc and tell them your quality of life is falling off big time which it probably is ?
I am 54 as well and Doc isn’t having any trouble requesting a new knee.
It’s been wrecked so many times and wore out.
Telling them you will go to the States or Vancouver and pay for it yourself will get there attention also for some reason also.

I see you are out of gp also, who is your surgeon? Mine was Dr Weins took the better part of 10 months to get my right one done then within 3 months I got my left done. Surgery was done on Wednesday March 28 and I am home beginning rehab. Best thing ever.

Curious, for all you guys who are saying that you were or are back to riding quite quickly, what kind of riding might we be talking about? Casual trail riding or deep snow hair on fire stand up your legs are shock absorbers riding?

I’m on the surgical wait list for a summer miniscus repair, not a replacement and am hoping that I can still ride beyond the repair. Pretty sure I will but wonder if I can still do it at the same level that I have over the past 25 yrs. MRI says a full thickness tear, not a simple trim.

I've raced and always rode really hard. Yes my first couple rides were more of a feeling out, but by next fall I expect I should be riding pretty much the way I did before. Only thing is probably think first in some situations because if you screw it up you will explode it out of the bone as the implant won't break.

I have 2 plates like that and 13 screws still in my leg from 2000.... It doesn't really give me any problem, unless I catch a table leg or something on the plate or screw heads..

Pulled mine due to knee replacement needed. Been 10 days since removed and still tender .
Staples out Monday.
