was up there in Nov. ski touring. Pretty heavy on the crevasses leading up to Harmon and on the back door as per usual however there is so much wind transport I doubt those exist at this point.
Main glacier has very little to worry about in terms of crevasses

Rode here today , wow what an area ! trail Is in good shape, snow right down in parking area but hard and icy.. Only overheated once on the way up. Not a lot of snow, probed 2 feet up on thunder water lake which had no tracks. Rode up to thunder water lake and up to the next lake , enjoyed making all the fresh tracks up in there today Plus a blue sky. Stayed off the big faces as there is some Avvy activity on the real steep stuff. Id say a 6-8” layer of soft snow on top of a hard crust up in the higher elevation.

Any public info on this? Is this an amendment to Columbia valley area recreation use plan?
public consultation has just started. It is part of the recreation use plan, specifically Forster area. Steamboat mountain was the other area that has been worked on.
I will post a link to the information soon.

Give us the cliff notes of what’s going on…
Is this just another attempted round of motorsport restrictions by the left leading crowd?

The theory is to have a recreational use plan of our local areas to help streamline the process of authorized use. This way the entire process of consultation etc doesn't have to be done each time a user group wants to develop a trail, or use an area.
Some groups definitely are trying to use it to shut the door on mechanized and motorized use.
There is an advisory committee which all area user groups have a representative attending the meetings. After this group identifies who and where users are going and the wild life, environmental situation is, the data is put together and then sent to the planning committee.
This is where the actual use recommendations are set. This isn't the final step however, this information is then passed onto the the government for review. The government may or may not follow the guidelines set by this planning committee.

Maybe like Alberta's Big Horn Recreation area...

Maybe the folks in the local area can join in on a snowmobile/ ohv/ motorcycle/ e-bike/ dual-sport,,, fishing and motorboat group so they have a say. ..

Maybe 4 or 800 locals and add us out-side of area folks that could be impacted by decisions that are not """equally""" fair since its a """all""" user group thing when it comes too sharing crown lands...

Ill look at the link tonight...

I encourage everyone to look at the website I posted and fill out the survey. Poor turnout on the sledders part last night at the open house.
I will hate to be the one to tell people I told you so if things change and access is lost or changed.
I hear sledders saying they want more areas to ride and the "club" to do more but when the only managed area we have is up for discussion nobody shows up.

Done! Seems like the same conflict everywhere you go. Motorized vs Non-motorized. I'll forward this survey to so riding buddies as well.

Thank you for attending and posting the information….

I think the poor turnout is normal as sledders are a completely different demographic than environmental activists and the such. Those people are usually well organized, active online, and have the time to attend meetings…
Sledders not so much…

Yikes, gents better fill this one out given some of the questions in this. Spread the word. As typical these surveys always go in-noticed to the mass of people that use the areas.

Sadly we as a group have a habit of sitting on our hands hoping someone else will do stuff for us. Is the survey open to non B.C. residents? I’d be happy to fill it out if it is.
