I think it boils down to that the 6.0L Ford has a lot of issues. The duramax was more reliable. ( I admit - i am am a Ford guy) except the injectors let you down after 150000 Km on a duramax.

the injector problem is only on the 04 model year. the newer years are good. plus the 160000km dmax warranty on the motor

I have an 05 Ford 6L retro fitted, with all 7.3 upgrades. Right from Ford. It hasn't missed a beat since.

If your pulling a house, buy a Dodge
If you want mileage, buy a Chev
If you want a happy medium. That's not better at either, buy a Ford

Good luck on the hunt. They are ALL GOOD, and they are ALL BAD.

my preferance is 07 Dmax classic (chev made two models that year). the classic has no dpf and still gets the 160km/5yr engine & drive train warrenty (previous years only on motor).

For the ford it makes a b bigggg difference if you get a 07 or a 08. The 08 has the 6.4l that has been really good, especially if you get rid of the DPF!

Go with a Dodge, my 06 gets 24 mpg empty with 35 inch toyos and 3.73 gears. Cummins are a much more reliable engine of them all, and I was was a Ford guy forever!

If I had to choose between the 2 I would definitely go with the Chev...Pretty reliable truck with very few issues but would take a Dodge over both.
