There go Fords alleged fuel savings...you might burn less fuel, but it's more expensive to begin with. Funny how you don't hear that in any advertising. Sorry to get your thread off topic OP, but this is S&M.

Bingo... Last time I am going to derail I promise, eco has loads of potential for mods but premium and the chance of having to replace/repair any of the turbo related systems kill any benefit to me.... going to have to save a lot of fuel to to pay for a new turbo at 150000km

My work F150s have all been 5.4s up to 2011 and my 2011 a 5.0 and it really rocks great on fuel and lots of power. Really depends on the rear end ratio though. I'm looking for a F150/6.2L though right now as I want something with a little more power for towing though.

Stay away from the 5.4, they have issues with the cam phasers, exhaust manifolds, spark plugs may be an issue, I have had all these issues and went through rear ends. I would get a 5.0

I had a 2011 with the 5.0, good power and fuel economy was reasonable. Now I'm driving a 2013 Ecoboost been happy with it so far as well.

I can't buy into the ecoboost.....it just doesn't fly with me. I am PRO F-150......great trucks hands down! I have a lot of them from 2010 to 2013, all engines and a raptor that has a Loads of goodies and puts out in excess of 750 hp (thank you iron garage!!!) .2010 is the best year for a 5.4 engine, but clutch packs are garbage until you install the update. The 5.0 is an awesome engine, snap and mileage. It'll pull and is fun to drive. Running 91 is a benefit all the way around. You spend 50 grand on a truck but an extra 13 bucks is too much for 800 Kms? Can't say that I agree with that... Run premium in your sled and your truck. It's not a deal breaker in the big scheme of things.

I have a 2012 Ford F150 with a 5.0L that I originally got on a one year lease through a fund raising auction. Liked it so much that I bought it after the one year! Good mileage, quiet ride. No complaints at all, and I am a GM guy!!! Yikes

I have the '09 with the 5.4.
I am happy with it. It has only 90,000 km on it.

No problems yet but the warranty is about to expire and I noticed the rear diff leaking.. It's going in to get that taken care of.

I have drove Chevys my whole life and now have a 2013 f150 XLT crew 6.5' box work truck and I really like it. It has way more power than the 5.4 and gets better fuel mileage. My brother had a 2010 and it was a dog and yes the rear end was piled up with less than 100,000 km. it took a long time for it to blow up though.

What, for 2 days?? Lol
The newer 5.4's (2009 and newer) don't have near the problems of the earlier models.

A lot of it is internet hype also. One guy blows a dif, then it turns into 1/2 of them blowing. Lol

6 weeks. I studied that engine thoroughly, then decided I wanted nothing more to do with the 5.4. You can have it and I'm glad you like it.
