Hopefully it is a two way street and they have to stay on the island and not come to the mainland.

No reason to go there anyhow, controlled by native and arty farty left wingers. Be awesome to see the big one come in my time and flush the whole coast line out to sea.
oh the survivors will have no problem wanting to come inland then.

I cancelled our accommodation at the lodge a week ago for our week of fishing with our boat. Going to miss it for sure but it was for the best.
Our ferry reservation though is another story.
I agree with their decision and would do the same, if covid gets into that community they are screwed. I have spent a lot of time in Haida Gwaii, they are some of the most friendly loving people you will ever encounter. Always willing to help and invite you in for one of their home cook traditional meals.

If your going to spout out, at least know what your talking about. Maybe go there one day and educate your self.

Never been to Haida Gwaii but been to the Queen Charlotte Islands lots. Fishing is good, not what it use to be but nothing is and your allowed like 10 of them puppy deer. A sickness would definitely devastate a small community like that. Its another reason why many of the other small communities are getting pissed about people not staying home.

What lodge were you headed to? I have spent lots of time fishing out of Masset. Fantastic Island to go explore.

Yes they do. I lived on the island for over a year and spent time around that area. I have a friend that use to charter rivers inlet, texada island. A good friend has family in Courtney, they spend a fair bit of time over the years fishing Cambell and Powell River area. Always invite me but just not my thing. Beautiful area thought.
logging sure has taken a toll over the years and forced people to move on. Not like back in the day she was busy place...work wise. Never thought I’d say it but the trees were so big it was a pain to deal with lol. Yep you would need a bigger truck.

We were heading for Sandspit.
Fishing a long Campbell River and Powell River and many other areas a long the island and mainland has been devested and getting worst in the last 20yrs. A lot of these areas went from a rich underwater echo system like kelp forest that sustain life to barren deserts of nothing more the rocks and mud.
Fishermen get the blame for a lot of it but fallow the money. Its commercialism that is destroying it. Between commercial fishing with their drag nets raping everything in its path and increased commercial freighter and cruise traffic causing underwater shet storms not much survives anymore. We are having to go much further north and that is getting a hit from commercial fishers with the nets.

So after reading this you will most likely know my view towards increased oil sent to the coast, it doesn't belong there. There are other appropriate ports for that to go too. Vancouver and the inside passage is not it.

Where did Lund say he was against Canadian energy? Just the tanker traffic in a specific area.

Some people need to learn how to read. My post has nothing to do with Canadian energy but to do with more sea traffic being imposed in a very confined area. Vancouver does not have direct access to the Pacific. Sea traffic have to navigate either the inside passage or the Gulf islands.
There are far better options like Prince Rupert to have an open ocean port, like near their air port on Digby island.

As there is already a pipleline here in Vancouver, it makes sense to increase it. Yes more ships, but the chance of a spill is minuscule. Plus, moving the ships from one area another is simply a "not in my backyard". Navigating through the islands ain't hard.

It's not a spill that is the main issue, it's the day to day turbulence of the water from the ships.

Day to day turbulence to what? What exactly is getting disturbed. Waves on the shoreline? Engine noise from for the orcas? Tripling ferry traffic is ok, but adding tankers is not? Do tell.
