So I bought a new 2013 M800 sno pro 162 and took it for the first ride the other day, was great off the bottom end but would only do about 60mph and scream at over 9000 rpm. It has the factory weights in it and I was riding at about 4200ft. I was told all clutching updates have been done and it still has the 2013 gearing. Is this normal or do I have clutching issues???

Put clutch weights in for your altitude. It's clutched for high elevation.

definitely need some heavier weights. 800HO's should only rev to around 8100 I believe? Either way you probably wont get too much more top speed, these are geared for hills/long tracks so it definitely wont be king of the lake if thats what your expecting.

Ive ran stock weights on cats plenty of times around here and never seen revs hit 9000, not even close, even on the 13 m1100 turbo i had a couple years ago I wasnt over reving to badly around whitecourt, should be reving between 8100-8200 and with stock weights at low elevation he might hit 8500 or so but not 9000, something seems fishy about that, as for top speed, you should be able to get close to 75-80 mph, my 11 m8 will hit almost 90mph around here on a long straight stretch when im weighted up for low elevation

Due to gearing differences the 2011 will do higher top speed than a 2013. The 2012 M8's had 21/49 gearing and 2013 and newer went to 19/50 gearing. Ive found all my 2012 and newer cats can easily pull 2 gram heavier weights than come with factory. In my 2012's i used to run 74gram weights at elevation of 6000+ft and no issues.

I have 75 gram weights in mine for riding at 3300ft. I still have the factory gearing and the 2013 secondary. Mine revs out to 8100 and will do about 75 mph. When I tried to ride it with the high altitude weights I couldn't run it over 1/2 throttle without hitting 8000 rpm. I even ran the same weights when I rode revy and Sicamous last year and was still pulling close to 8000 rpm. I think you would need to be up closer to 9000 ft to run the weights that come from the factory.

My 12 the rpm nearly change from high elev. to low. I run about 8-8100 at elevation and maybe 8400 ish around home. And I max out at about 75mph as well. All on the factory weights but it does have the clutch update

Does it climb the ramp smooth with 75 grm weights?

good to know, going to mcbride next weekend, i will see if its any better there, and double check my belt part# and make sure the clutches arent hanging up. I know it wont be a speed demon but I was expecting a little faster than 60mph.

Not many sleds are gonna hit 60 mph track speed climbing. A mountain sled is geared for a purpose; if you really want the top speed throw in the stock 21/49 gearing from the 2012 ProClimb. Then she will make some serious hardpack/flat ground track speed.

I would still change your weights or take spares. Mine came stock with 70 gram which are going to be too light and you will over rev and might even smoke your belt. I would try some 74 grams like glegine was running.

Mine is the same and I have the 2014 clutch and gears.

Had a quick look tonight, looking at the sheaves on the primary clutch, you can see the belt marks are at least an inch from the outside of the sheaves. The primary is not closing all the way. Any ideas why the primary is hanging up when it's only partway closed?
