Xm or pro? Why

So you tell me then mister smarty pants ?
You stick both sleds on flat ground . ( stuck)163 Doo and 163 rmk.
Skis above the snow on both.
Give a ski pull on each and you tell me which one climbs on top easier ?
We have done it lots and the Polaris simply comes out easier.
Lighter ??? Yes
By the way I am a Doo fella but it is what it is.
Is it cause the rear is full and heavyer on the rear??

They weight close to the same with snow in them


Attack angle doesn't seem much different

I heard if u put bigger wheel on rear axle that helps to, for wheelie and coming out of the snow

This has been beat to death but I will give my own observations and the you can go read some more.

Without seat time on either of them it is hard to make a real choice. I have been on Doo my last three sleds since getting back into riding. I like to ride ugly tree lines and nasty bottomless creeks. The sled being lighter overall does make a difference.

What I like about the Pro, lighter weight, handles off camber situations with ease.

What I like about the Doo, the etec.

After being on the fence the last few winters I will be on a Pro this year. This wasn't an easy decision at first. A new sled wasn't in the books originally but with the price on left over 14's I couldn't refuse. I will still have my 2012 Summit with a brand new motor.

The changes in the XM just weren't enough for me and a 3" track isn't going to make up for what I didn't like about it. I still find the Doo to tend to wash out in technical terrain. I am a fairly light guy at 150 pounds and was always fighting the sled at the worst time.

The Pro chassis does get on snow better. It feels rigid compared to the Doo that feels sacked out. I know it will take a little time to adjust completely to the RMK steering but I have had enough seat time on a number of them over the past few years to know my confidence will grow much higher on the Pro than the Doo.

What I'm saying is polaris hold snow in skid and tunnel lots more than a xm, the tested weight of both wet and full of snow, the Polaris was something like 25-30 lbs heavyer than just wet

Where the doo was way less

So both wet, full of snow they aren't that far apart...

Forget who or what show did the testing I seen

Yes the Polaris pop up out better but why??

Here's my opinion. I have a 2012 pro 800 and a 2013 xm 800. The polaris stays in the trailer. I like the skidoo way better. It has more power, it is easier to side cut, it has better suspension on the trail, and it simply is a better built sled. The resale on the polaris sucks. Skidoo holds its value much better. But if you are going to buy brand new I would also consider who your dealers are. Service is also important for some people.

How much do you want for that 2012 Pro? No point in keeping it in a trailer losing value.

As far as resale I have friends that did very well selling there 12 pro's and buying 13s but since then the value has dropped while the etech I 2012 and xm's are holding there value very well

I find that the Polaris is cheaper up front to begin with so selling cheaper used ?
Doo is more $ up front and sell for slightly more used .
Depends how your calculator works.

Would kinda suck if you had to sell your Doo for the same price as a Pro, there's a big difference in purchase price for a full option sled. You'd really be getting beat up then, and it's gonna be interesting to see this year and next how the sales of the 11 and 12 Doo's go, sure is a ton of used Doo's around, and probably gonna be more yet. I think Poo's philosophy of keeping it cheaper, whether by design or by necessity was a good strategy.

Why you ask?

It's all in the suspension design and geometry. I think it's about time Doo got out of the 60's and 70's and ditched the torsion springs.

I forgot I don't like how the Doo still dives. It's not like riding a Apex dive but it still isn't as predicable as the RMK. And as far as the Doo having better suspension for the trail, well, I guess that's fine if you like trails.

Buy the Poo if ya want a glued together sled that isnt as tough as the Doo. I'm thinkin Jared will chime in here and give ya his opinion on the Poo. Hes been on Doo for a bunch of years and tried the Poo last year and is completely dissapointed. My 2 cents Xm or T3 cant go wrong with either one and as mentioned previously the warranty is better.:beerchug:

I believe with spring check yes the doo has the better warranty but buy now and Polaris may be better

Can't speak for the XM ... went from a Nytro to a pair of 600 pro's last and it was a blast to ride with over 1000 miles on each last winter without any issues .... thought about the Freeride but too much of a difference in $$$ between BRP and Polaris.

Isn't it about time to drop the glue argument? Your vehicle has been glued together for years, and Polaris seems to have fixed what few issues they had with the glue on some of the sleds.

where is the proof of "gets on the snow better" thats just downright false. especially this year a t3 vs a pro 163 i think we know whos going to come out ahead from a dead stop in the deep suff
