My second car was a 1968 Plymouth Baracuda Formula S, 383 magnum, pistol grip 4 spd, one of less than 400 built. Aside from owning 2 Chevs and 1 Ford product, my life has been around Mopars for the last 4 decades. I have to correct Dragon Lady, as Dodge never produced a 460, that was a ford motor, must have been the neck snappin 440 in a very rare configuration, just like the cuda, having a big block in an "A' body car. These new cars might have some horses under the hood, but they sure don't have the neck snappin torque of a good ole Big Block!

My first car was a 1969 Dodge Dart, green with white leather interior.Had a 460 in it. It hauled azz.Mint cond. Got it for 700.00,
Had the crank for the sun roof. It was a nice ride.

1987 Jetta Diesel. Burned stove oil in it all the time, 33 cents/ litre and 50 mpg. Biggest mistake I made was getting rid of that car to buy an 03 Mazda Precidia V6 with goodies. Went for flash instead... oh well it was fun too.

You know what I would have to agree with you. :DWhen I bought it the guy said it had a 360 slant six in it,[???] :dunno::chatterbox: And everybody would argued:argue: with me said 460. So really I DFK. all I know it was green and sweet, sucked gas and could go.:hemiCoupe:

'77 Pontiac Vega....very low key.

From what I've seen driving around lately...no one will have 1st car stories in 10-20 years. It built character driving something that might of had a bit of rust, needed occasional work...we all knew our way around the Canadian Tire Parts Dept!!

Now, I cannot count how many recent High School Grads are driving around in something Brand New or no more than 2 yrs old!!! Not that there's anything wrong with that......but it will never be the way it was in the 70's & 80's where your used car budget could easliy be $500 to $1500. AND, how many people recall paying for insurance by the year $200-300??? When exactly did the insurance "Monthly Payment" plan come about.....LOL.

OK...back to the now....:D

1973Mercury Montego did they come with a 400?Can't remember... bought it with a blown motor for$100.rest of car was mint.Took heads to hi school shop class one at a time on school bus.Put it back together in the driveway. That thing would probly be worth a buck or two today, but I completely destroyed it ...like a lot of young kids do with their first car.
