yamaha 400 kodiak

I stripped the spline on the shaft coupler on my '01 400 kodiak. I have removed the shaft, but I don't know how to remove the shaft coupler (the one that comes out of the transfer case). Do I have to take the tranny apart?? Any help would sure be appreciated!!

i did the same job last year..no you dont have to take the tranny apart..the coupling just goes over another shaft..the guy who tried to fix it before we bought it ..welded it and it only lasted a few years..simple cheap part to fix.try grabbing the coupler with vise grips and pull..it should come off quite easy.good luck.
