My 2012 etec800 154 is a trenching pos I got a clutch kit in it and put at 23 top gear in it. It trenches like crazy and I only get 40 mph out of it climbing. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I agree. Just had my 12 freeride in the anthills this week where the powder was sick. The machine was unreal. No problem with trenching what so ever.

Shop I go to said its the
best thing for that sled is what I got done.

23 gear is too much gear..... not even good for the prairies as your belt will get too hot. This will help explain the 40 mph track speed. Go back to a stock 21 or even a 20 tooth and your clutch's will shift out better as long as the clutch kit is calibrated properly. Go back to stock and it will at least get you 50-53 mph track speed.

I have a 2012 154 summit 800 e-tec I weigh 220 so all I did was stiffen rear springs and tighten up limiter strap. With primary clutch on clicker 4 I get 74km per hr track speed in deep snow

A 20 should fit with no issues with the stock chain. It should actually take some of the dog leg out.

How many miles are on the Primary? The primary and secondary springs are likely sacked out already and everything else could use a refresh, buttons, orings, rollers, spring cup and shieve bushing if you have over 1000 miles on it. I lost 400 rpm from last winter to this winter. After a few rides this winter I rebuilt the clutches, first ride I was already back down to clicker 2 from 6. All last season I maintained 3 after break in.

Suspension, for climbing, not a lot of preload on the ski shocks, about 2-3. Limiter in stock hole or suck it up one. Center shock back off all the preload then just 2-3 tuns of preload. Rear springs, if you have stock rears, set on 4 or 5 depending on riding weight. Heavy springs, 1 or 2.

my '12 completely stock gearing and clutching gets a full shift at WOT, and average 50mph while climbing in decent fresh up good pulls with excellent back shift. A 20T would likely get you a few more mph.

What are your peak RPM's while climbing? Make sure you don't go over the 7900 if everything else is stock. Except the can, but a can wouldn't get you a peak rpm change.

Count your losses.. go back to stock then tighten your limiter and crank your rear spring.
