amsoil say's saber oil is not tested or recommended for power sports use.

it is meant for chain saws.
Ok maybe I shouldn't be calling it saber - outboard oil or whatever the hell they wanna call it

Taking a look at the specs sheet the Amsoil 100:1 oils are quite different than their other lines. The 100:1 oil have significantly higher viscosity and flash points. My assumption is this heavier oil sticks to parts better and burns off less readily meaning less is needed to maintain lubrication.

I will point out however that the Saber Oil appears to be recommended for small air-cooled engines, and the marine oil for 100:1 is rated TC-W3 which is for marine engines. Neither of these oils state anything about use as injection oil, they appear to be pre-mix only, which again tends to be small engines, as large marine engines are oil injected, which also means these oils likely aren't designed to be used with power-valves.

I wouldn't run either of these oils in my sled regardless of mix ratio.

I'm just using the oil as an example - not saying running it in anything - there are oils out there that are safe for oil injection snowmobiles that are a 100:1 oil - everyone needs to step back and stop trying to literally murder me over this - chill out relax and I'll get to the bottom of it - it's not gonna happen overnight

100:1 oil has been out for a lot of years, ran it in my skillsaw chainsaw that called for 16:1 mix. That saw run for years and a faller buddy took it and used it for topping.

Sweet, an oil thread.

You guys ever open a bottle of Ctec2 and take a wiff? That's some gourmet chit!
You should smell the stuff I'm selling - it has fragrance added for your pleasure also - like that one time I added fragrance to the hot tub water - man oh man we got real freaky that night I tell ya

Wasn't there a whole Novel written on this in another thread with scientific backing speaking to temperatures, pressures, additives, etc... One of the members on here with a chemical engineering background went into great detail to basically prove that 2 stoke oil is 2 stroke oil......

i have been using the Ipone oil since around 2009 or 2010. It’s worked well with no issues at all. I am using the new cat oil in my new hold over 17 m8 that I bought in Dec 2018. Might switch that one over to Ipone once this case of cat oil is gone. See what the pricing is like when I’m ready to buy the next case.
