Hey there folks, I am hoping someone can help me here. Over the weekend I bought a used boat from someone who keeps the boat in BC waters but the trailer is registered in Alberta. What do I have to do to transfer the trailer to me and insure it here through ICBC?

The boat registration is federal so I am not worrying about that but the trailer will need to switched to BC. Does anyone know if I need an inspection or anything like that?

Trailer is super simple. Just take the registration and bill of sale to your insurance place. They will need to do a visual to ensure the VIN on the trailer matches the VIN on the registration. If you have a sweet broker like me they will drive over and check it out otherwise they will sell you an inspection permit to haul it to their office. There is no out of province or safety inspection needed.
