My 2006 M7 EFI right from brand new from low to mid range has a bog. It sounds like its starving for fuel/air or it makes the sound like if the spark plugs were fouled, which ive changed 3 times already. It doesnt always do it, only when its good and warmed up, when i lean her over and punch it or when i crash through a drift, it does it often when i punch it from a stand still. Ive taken it to 2 different dealers thus far, Argyll motorsports says they cant mimic the bog in their shop and therfore cant fix it, they did check for computer errors and it came up clean ($200 bill for nothin'), Echo cycle thought they fixed it when they found my belt deflection was way out, but it didnt, I phoned them back and they also have no clue, they also said they checked the APV's and everything was good (another $200 bill). So you can imagine my frustration, I hate to bother everyone with this ,but, does anyone have any thoughts, I'll buy the beer Feb 15-20 in Revy. I should say the only mods done to my sled is an MBRP can and V-force3 reeds. THX.

I should also say Echo cycle said The M7 is clutched for 6000-9000 ft. elevation and that may cause the problem, i cant for the life of me remember if it bogged in the mountains last year. Does anyones sled bog around the edmonton area

Cat Bog

I've got a 04 King Cat with a can on it, and was experiencing bogging in the deep stuff. Another rider in Revy said he had the same sled / same problem, and it was the result of the the exhaust sheild / deflector on the the bottom of the belly pad. The snow would swirl up into the exhaust, choking out the motor. I'm not sure what the setup is on the M7, but this may be something to check (if your problem was in lots of powder).

Catmando, have you heard of, or experienced this?

Thats the best answer ive recieved in a while, i also have the exhaust shield and now that i think about it, i was in 2 feet of powder when this occured this weekend, it also does it in fine partical snow which makes sense for the swirl part of it. Is there any kind of fix for this? Thanks for the reply!

P.S. havent figured out how to put an orange smiley yet, but will soon!

bogging

yup, yup, yup:D , I think Tekim is onto your problem. Read about the deflector allowing snow to pack the exhaust in very deep snow conditions, probably worse when leaned onto the right side, RIGHT???, or as you say crash through a drift.... I read somewhere about a modified kit(might have been from cat) for this, that prevents this problem. my '98 mountian max with pipes was doing this, so I designed a deflector which took care of the problem(I have since reinstalled the factory pipe and brp can, and sold the pipes)

attaboy Tekim:yahoo: , there's one for the Gipper:agree: :awesome_dude: .
Linkz, I hope your problem is solved....... please keep us posted

Exhaust Sheild

My problem was in the deep stuff, and as Summittic says, especially when you crank it on the right side (always fails when you need the power). I think that the "fix" to this problem is to "eliminate" it. I was told that if you remove the shield, it will prevent the swirling, and the exaust pressure should blow everything straight through. Some guys said that they made a better shield, but is just seems to get ripped off when banging through some harder packed snow, or (heaven forbid) a rock or tree.

I've removed mine, but haven't had a chance to get back to the deep stuff to see if it helps (this weekend at CNP).

Tekim

(i was hoping that RKnight could make an orange smiley for us cat guys. they all seem to be prejudiced against us)

Arctic Cat Green Smiley??

Whats With That?? I Doo Agree With You, Tekim. Theres No Ski-doo/yamaha Blue Smiley, And No Red Smiley For The Yamaha/doo & Poo Fans Out There.
P.S.: TEKIM, GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR LITTLE MOD, BUT I THINK YOU MAY HAVE TO MAKE A BIGGER\BETTER DEFLECTOR, TO KEEP THE SNOW OUT --- NOT SURE, BUT GOOD LUCK

Bogging

We had a similar problem with a demo polaris a couple years back. It turned out that the stater plate was not tightened and it changed the timing of the machine. Good luck fixing your problem.

Try taking your can off, and putting the stock back on. 1 out of 10 EFI 700's will get a bog from some cans. It may possibly just be this, but definetely try this before anything else if you havent already.

summitric,
Yes the problem worsened as i lean 'er over to the right side. I phoned Echo cycle in edmonton about that kit and they had no clue what i was talking about, so i doubt arctic cat has this kit. If you remember where you heard that from please let me know.

This is the problem, all kingcats do it, M7 has the exaust in the shock well. There is an aftermarket can that has a redirected exaust and you have to drill a hole in your tub and the exaust exits up in front of the shock simalar to the m7,I dont know who makes it.Also 1 in 10 efi cats will bog when you put a can on them, not sure why but never talked to a service dept that didnt know that!Try putting your stock muffler back on if its efi!Mine inst bad unless I'm carving for a long time on the right side in real deep stuff!I still have my shield on too!

Beers,

Catmando, yes, hopefully beers one day, although I'm not too sure if I can ride with all these other "Doo" guys. I really hate having to wait while guys fix their machines all day.:D
