Hmm, to ride today or not to ride today? Maybe we will go see how much snow we got up top and if any avalanches came down.

Wow it was a blizzard up there today, Pretty hard to see, played in the trees! There was some nice powder to play in! No Avis down, little sluffing through the canyon, trail is rough

None of the big 5 avalanches have really come down. There is some sluffing in the paths and the last one has more down than the others. In Smith, the first slide is down about 50 m above the trail and the remaining ones are pretty insignificant. Nothing major down other than the one big popular climbing area on the way in. It released from the top ridge and came down through and over all the slope with the little trees on it.

Above Mear, there were some slab releases in the storm snow and they did not cause a significant avalanche.

Generally, it rained to the top with a 2" rain crust; in Smith it is covered with 2-3" of powder, in the trees before Mear Lake it is covered with 1/2" of powder, and above Mear there are places that the crust is covered with up to 8" of powder.

Be safe out there because there is a lot of snow up there to come down.

We went up today to check it out, fernie snows report was pretty accurate! I could not believe how you could not steer with a little bit of rain crust! It's snowing!
