We went to area 51 on friday, drove to km 18 before we unloaded, logging truck for the first couple of miles than there is nothing going on. It was raining hard below and we made it about 1 mile from play area as per GPS coordinates. visibilty was zero and the 6 ft of fresh was untouched. we had planned on going up on saturday but hit a deer with the truck on the way out friday and did enough damaged that we had towed. should be good sledding up there.

Is that 18KM when you turn off of the highway. Do you think you can get a 4place turned around up there?

You might be tight to turn an enclosed 4 place trailer. you would require to unhook. from the hwy you can go to km 12 where you will see a steel gate and the end of the power line. The 12 km mark is ouir normal staging area but due to the mild weather and rain there was no snow to be had at that elevation. hopefullly there will be snow in the near future at the 12 km mark.

Km 12/13 is where the Pingston Power project is. In the past (during construction) the guys working the project were EXCELLENT about making a parking area for sledders just past their gates. Any changes they are still carving some extra parking these days?

Unloading maybe 2-3 km in and yes all the lakes are frozen. they are hauling logs to the ferry so watch for the trucks.

Yes, there is a little bit of a turnaround at km 3 where the road branches off. There was a couple of 4 place trailers parked on the side of the road when we were there.
