Catalytic Heaters

I just bought a 2008 Wells Cargo toy hauler for my sleds, private sale. It came with a Northstar Sunburst 9000 catalytic heater. The pilot light fires up and the catalyst glows red and all, but when I let the go of the button and turn the knob up the pilot goes out (its supposed to) but it wont keep heating any suggestions.

Sounds like it needs a thermocouple. Manually hold valve open to get the pilot lit but can't hold it open on its own.
