so would the same apply to my boat for house accessories????

I'm set up for 2 12V, could I keep one 12 for starting and then use 2 6's for my house power???

I priced out a 12v 1250 cranking amp with 200 amp hour capacity @ 25 amps and an 8D with 400 a/h capacity @ 25a... would run me $530 for the 2

6v or 12v doesn't matter...total amp hours matters. Most people replace 2 - 12v Group 24 batteries (about 56lbs each) with 2 - 6v golf cart batteries (about 66 lbs each). The 6v batts are waaaay taller....more lead = more amp hours. Even a 12v Group 27 battery is about 62 lbs...better.

So:
2 - 12v G24 batts = 80x2 or 160 amp hours
2 - 12v G27 batts = 100x2 or 200 amp hours
2 - 6v GC batts = 220x2 or 440 amp hours at 6v....220 amp hours at 12v.

Yep - I can't say enough about switching to 2 - 6V Trojan batteries.
Night and day difference. ha!

Thanks Todd - your post on LED bulbs just cost me another $56 bux! lol
But seriously - great tip - I'll be switching out my 1141's for those LED's.

You won't regret it....way better light, plus absolutely no worries about leaving them on.

I am by no means a batter guru, I ran 2 - 6 volts for the past 5 years, they were ok but still wasnt satisfied. Last summer I replaced them with 2-12 volt truck batteries, I have no idea on the specs, but size wise they are a fair bit bigger, I had to modify my brackets to hold them, but man do they last a long time.

I'm currently in the process of wiring up 2 Group 27 12v's in my old trailer, because the price was right on the batteries....

I'm going to have to pull a bulb or two out of my old trailer and see if they are the 1141's or if they are something else...... a few of them LED's in the old girl would be a good idea.

Yep, the best deal I could find locally was $13/bulb. I needed 46 of them...so that wasn't going to work.
