My goal was to free up space on the back of the seat in order to accommodate the storage box accessory for that area, and not lose a bunch of space to a battery and styrofoam. I became quite fond on the additional storage on my gen 4, and with the smaller glove box, and a smaller avy bag this year I need to pack more on the tunnel. I saw something similar early last season, and thought it was a great idea.

I started by pulling the old stuff out.

The next step was to pull the hood and panels, the shroud over the fuel tank, and remove the frame braces that hold the fuel tank in place. I didn't get pictures, but it's really simple. 2 8mm nuts, 4 t40 bolts, the two bolts securing the steering pussy, and a couple plastic rivets was enough to get the fuel tank loose.

With the tank loose I was able to fish the positive battery cable to the front of the tank where it joined in to a wiring harness. There was plenty of room and length to leave the cable in that bundle, and just redirect it up to the front. I also removed the negative battery cable where it attached through the middle of the tunnel under the tank, and reinstalled the bolt to fill the hole. Then I reinstalled the tank, braces, and trim.

I picked the smallest battery made by Antigravity - the AG401. It is less than half the size of the already small OEM battery, and over 2lbs lighter (15oz total).

I found a good spot to install it right beside the ECU. I utilized the oem negative battery lead, attached it to the battery, and to a frame support bolt below the pull start.

I connected the positive lead, and covered any exposed metal by wrapping it with electrical tape. I used a couple good cable ties to secure the battery to the fuse panel bracket.

Now I'm just waiting for the bigger storage compartment to come in next week, and she'll be ready to go.

I can't confirm, but based on the specs I don't see any reason this shouldn't work for the electric start as well.

Which one did you order. I order the one for the G5 and1/3 of it is closed off for storage for your spare belt. I would have rather had theG4 version there is more storage in that one.

Interesting. The belt goes under the box and then bolts to the tank?

Any pictures of that? I might tell Martin's to keep it and send an old one instead.

Belt fits under the front part you have to remove the top half to get at the belt. That’s what the plastic 1/4 turn things are one the back. It’s 2 piece now.

Seems like a good idea if you want to carry a belt back there. But I dunno if I like that either.

Guess I'll see if I have something to stash in that spot with limited access, or if I'll swap it for a gen4 box. I've got 2 coming - my wife's sled has the battery back there, so it'll get the new box regardless.

Not much info on the website or I would have order the other one forsure.
Yeah the details on some stuff is terrible. Got the deep snow pro bag this year thinking it would fit well with a fuel can. Not so much. Probably have to move the rear linq bracket backwards anyway, which is what I wanted to avoid.

Pretty sure my buddies with lynx fold their belt and stash them up by the oil tank. There’s definitely not a prefabed spot for where there putting them, but it seems fine
