Wow always had good meals there, never had a complaint from me, also I heard the only grocery store is now closed. This is a hurting place.

very bad news for McBride
both Valemount and McBride have been sold out by the BC government
The timber in these communities should be processed in them not trucked to the big centre's
The closing of the sawmills basically takes the heart beat out of the community
You can see the effects of a sawmills closing, even when the sawmill went on strike was a big deal when i grew up in Valemount

IGA Closed in August 2013, however there is AG Foods, and they are doing a great job accommodating our whole village even though they have less square footage. They are great people and we are very thankful that they are open. This small village town is a wonderful place to live, things are a little slow at the moment, however there is only one direction to go, getting better. The hospitality of this valley is absolutely second to none in my opinion, so lets just keep coming. Thank you to to all the sledders that make this a happening community. BIG THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ate there a couple times at MM last year, it was good. Sad to see another blow to this once thriving community.

A lot of the timber from the Valemount area is processed in the North Thompson and while unfortunately it does not do much for Valemount it helps keep communities like Vavenby, Birch Island, Clearwater, and Chase alive.

The Sandman does an awesome breakfast. Of course if you stay at one of the B & B's in town breakfast is included. There is also talk of a breakfast buffet being set up, but nothing firm yet. Will let you know when it happens.
