When building an engine, it is important to know cylinder volume, port height, deck height, combustion chamber volume, and squish - these numbers will establish a corrected compression ratio. Engines with little squish and highr compression ratios require higher octane fuel to resist detonation, some aftermarket pipes reduce the stinger outlet to heat the pipe and increase exhaust speed (aftermarket pipes that work on a drag sled or for high elevation usually "back up" heat into the combustion chamber, destroying ring lands or piston crown). Know what you have, and determine the fuel requirement.
