the kid is doing a paper for school about sleds.......he asks me this question......Over the years, how many companies made sleds? my answer was......30 ish I would say or more.

besides the 4 that are still big now

AC, Polaris, Ski-doo, Yamaha........is snow hawk still around?

There were between 120 and 130 different companies building sleds in 1970 and 1971 alone.

Seen a Chrysler once at the Rimbey Snow heaven Bet you find some more names there.

Except it was under the Simpson sears name I think, they also did snowblowers and did outboards under the ted something name.

Was there a manufacturer for a Playmate? I know Polaris had a Playmate in their lineup during the '60s and very early '70s

The hardest ones to name are the companies that had a single customer; Arlburg comes to mind. Their only customer was, i believe, Husky Oil.

Sears sold sleds but did not build them. IIRC Ariens built sleds for Sears.
