Shock adjustment

I bought a 01 1M 800 that has a shock adjustment on the handle bars not familiar with this. Not sure how to adjust it for different rides. Any information would be helpful. :d

Is it the dial adjuster? If so that was not stock on the Mountain Cats. Cat had issues with that piece. There was an update to it. Basically if you tunred the adjuster in a few turns it compressed the shock and added ski pressure. It gives you the ability to adjust ski pressure for chanign conditions. Some people love it, some hate it. I had one onmy ZR 800 Cross Country and got rid of it. I can setup suspension way better without it and not have to worry about the weight or something else goig wrong.
