Not calling BS on you as I get about the same mileage.
I called BS on LBZ's BS call. Confused yet?

All this bs is bs. Lol
Man I'm confused. So what we determined is that all the trucks burn diesel right ! Haha

First off the only place on this continent where you buy fuel by the gal is in the US. US gal is 3.88l and your mpg on the lie o meter in your truck is also 3.88. So to use 4.54 is fn retarded. You will never buy gas in that measurement anywhere.

And secondly at 90 to 100km/h you might get 18ish, but faster than that no way your getting better than 21. Hand Calculated.

FYI
The only peeps that get good fuel economy are the ones that lie about it . Most times?
But a newer stock duramax with stock tires and no lift WILL get 21 plus at 115 Kms . Sorry
PS
That's over a 1000 Kms to a 132 l tank.

So you have now gone from 14 to 16 MPG to 18ish not getting any better then 21. I guess your next post you should be right on the mark with the MPG that I posted. I was also not talkin imp gal. 10.2 l/100km avg on a 2500km trip empty across Ontario. Have seen 9.8l/100km goin across the prairies again empty and keeping it around the 110 mark. Get it up in the 120ish and that changes to more your #'s.

I work with them enough to know what they get real world without tuning. So if you want to tell me they get as good of mileage as a 6.5 GM or 5.9 Cummins or almost as good as the sticker mpg on an ecodiesel doing 70+ MPH then I guess whatever helps you sleep.

Not sure what you mean by my hand????????????????

The average is 14-16. Some might get as high as 18 in the right conditions at say 100km/h but I don't believe consistent 21+ in a stock truck.

I know what I've seen. I stand by my numbers. Like I said, whatever helps you guys sleep at night.

3.785 for a US gal.

And it's whatever the person wants to use for units. It's not hard to convert litres to gallons and km to miles.

My 2012 3500 with 3.73 gears gets 19-20 miles per gallon (4.546) empty. I would expect the newer dodges get better mileage.

One of the only certainties on the Internet, 9/10 lie about fuel mileage.

So DU, going back to the original question before this turned into how you calculate fuel economy (with plenty of you effin liar thrown in) , you can pick a Duramax or a Cummins and you will likely be happy either way. I have always been a cummins fan since the mid 70's so thats what I went with. The duramax seems to be well liked a reasonably reliable. Have fun.

Yah maybe, my truck is stock and has the stock size tires on it.

My 12 is better on fuel empty than my 07 3500, but my 12 is 1-2 mpg worse towing.

One sledding trip I was with a group and a fellow had the same 2012 3500 as mine. He had one sled on the deck and so did I. He didn't believe me when I said my lie-o-meter was reading 17.5/100 and he was over 20l/100, he had to look at my dash before he would.
Same km driven as we both fueled in Hinton.

Not every truck and driver are the same.

As far as the answer to the OP take both out for a spin, both are good trucks and have their pros and cons.

Did you both conveniently reset your DIC in Hinton too?

He said he did, I asked him.

What do guys expect to hear reports on highway fuel mileage! 15-16?

My trucks good on fuel has been since it was brand new.

Here is the interesting part to the overhead reading. I said already that my 07 was worse on fuel driving empty than my 12, than way did my overhead on my 07 display 2l/100 less than my 12? I don't trust the overhead and always hand calculate my mileage.

ran my 2012 dodge to 300,000km chewed through U joints other than that awesome truck. Good enough to buy a 14, now have 105000 on it and one failed DEF injector all in all love the cummins. Drove a 12 duramax dually of a friends today has more get up and go than the cummins but prefer Ram/Cummins for overall comfort. All of the big 3 are great trucks and all have their own issues.
