My bad, guess I never really paid attention to the 2500, it's my wife's work truck and we pull our sled trailer with it, but you are correct it's a 6.0. Our ZL1 on the other hand is definitely the 6.2, but the supercharger makes it a different beast altogether. Other than that my comments about the 5.3 stand. (Our boat has a 5.7, but that's also a different conversation altogether).

Are the 5.3 a loud motor? A guy at work just bought a brand new truck with the 5.3 and it's loud. Seems to be a lot of valve terrain noise.

Not valve train

It's direct high psi injectors

Kind of like the older diesels

Just went on 6hr x2 trip and 1500/5.3-6spd got 16.6L/100km.

Our '12 Dodge diesel 3500 gets the same or better stock. Way better truck in the big hills too... IMO

A couple more oil changes and this 1500 needs to go me thinks. FWIW

My 06 3500 Cummins with 6" lift and 35s gets 11.5L regularly, just rides like a lumber wagon.

There has to be something wrong with that truck. Modifications, driver, lie-o-meter is way out, speedometer is way out, something.

I love my 2015 Sierra SLE Kodiak Crew 4x4 5.3...... I don't tow with it but the all wheel drive system is freaking amazing, the ride is typical Chev/GM silky smooth, feels more like a car. very comfortable well equipped truck. I didn't even want it (it's a company truck), I wanted a Tacoma but I have to admit the Sierra is an awesome truck and I'm averaging about 14L / 100km empty but I'm not easy on the accelerator.

Yeah, my 5.3 likes it's fuel just as much as my 05 with 4.10's did. It was good until I put real tires on it, leveled it and put an add a leaf system in it.

Just installed a tune on it so I'm hoping that will smarten it up some, had the speedo calibrated for the bigger tire size too so that will make it more accurate.

Here is the average for the truck so far. Tires and level and have been on since 2000km.

I'm running a '14 Ram 1500 crew cab short box 5.7 4X4 Sport pkg w/ 20" wheels. I ran the stock Goodyear skins until late October until it seemed like I was getting a flat per week. Went with a set of Cooper Discoverer XT-4 which are a 4 season, winter rated tire and it really put the hurtin' on the mileage. The tires are night and day better than the stockers, so I can live with it, but I didn't expect it to drop as much as it did. To be fair, we're into winter gas about the same time, so I won't know for sure until the spring.

I have a 15 gmc 1500 with a 5.3l and pulling my 2 place aluminum trailer and 2 sleds I get 8 miles to the gallon less than without the load. Bought the truck new from dealer with the lift and bigger tires. My speedo is 8 km/h out and they tell me they can't calibrate the speedo. Sorry if the last part was off topic.
