go buy yourself a good shop manual for said unit. it should show you tests to do in order to properly diagnose your problem, may be the gauge in the dash who knows,. does it go down from a 1/4 to empty? is it empty when it says it is? my cousins old nova did the same thing after he shorted the battery once on it. still worked fine but 1/4 tank was full and empty was empty. if thats the case leave it alone. imo. good luck

Since this young guy has moved to the Island he has a job, he has a bike, and he has a truck!

A long way from sneaking over Roger's Pass and fearing the ol' fart with the axe, eh!!

How his life has changed.....good on ya' buddy!

Does the fuel pump make a high pitched buzz when the truck's running? If so, the pump is shot, and the sending unit is built into it. I had the same thing happen to my Gm 6 litre just before I sold it. Cost me $425 for the pump, and 2 hours to change it on a hoist. If there's nothing wrong with the pump, just keep the tank full and don't worry about the gauge.
