I had one also that I put a Superchips programmer in, and did aftermarket intake and exhaust. Lots of fun to drive. Truck burned about 1/2 a litre of oil every 5000km from the time it was new to when I sold it. Only sold it because I was having an endless string of electrical problems in the truck. It was never great on gas when empty even when I was nice to the throttle (seem to recall around 14mpg at best). When pulling our holiday trailer, that dropped down to 6 or 7 mpg
They made a 2500 Avalanche with the 8.1 in it for a short time and there was one in Red Deer that had a Supercharger on it. This is probably the only reason I'd try to find something with an 8.1 in it again.

Goods, has power and 5 speed allison trans


Bads, gas gas and more gas
They tend to like oil, I would run 5w 40 year round it will help alot ( 5w30 is too thin and they run hot)
