Camping around Calgary

The wife and I want to head south for a week but have no clue what a decent camp ground near Calgary is. We would like to be half decent close so we can run into town and go to the zoo and stuff. Any tips would be awesome!

Are you looking for mountains or just a camp ground. Lots of stuff out in Bragg creek for the more traditional camping, if you just need a spot to camp, there is a campground in Okotoks, as well as some others just east of town, but they are flat and no trees. Bragg Creek has trees and hills but is about 20 mins to the south side of the city.

We are looking for a nice place to stay for 5 or 6 days and travel from there site seeing. South of calgary works for sure I will look into that one! Thanks Modman!

Their is a an excellent camp ground just east of Okotoks right where the highwood river meets the bow river
