Blue Jewel /Blue River B.C. Snow Report for Febuary /08

[BLUE JEWEL]

Well as of Tonight they are Calling for another 10-15 cms. of Snow

To Date Blue River has had 15 Feet Accumulated Snow in Town sooooo far !!

Calling for Snow most Days this Week and Sunny Sky's Forecast for the Weekend !

It sure has been a GREAT Season so far !!

OK EVERYBODY !!!!!!

NO JOKE !!!

AVALANCHE IS " HIGH " NO ROOM FOR MISTAKE !!!

The Message from the Snowpack is Clear - the Jan.26 weaknesses have reached a Critical State, and are Primed to Avalanche BIG !!

Danger Levels are fore cast to Rise Rapidly, with New Snow , Risisng Temp.'s , and Winds resulting in Stress on the Snowpack, and settlement of the upper pack into a cohesive Slab.

Be Aware these Conditions will exist in Large Opening's Below Treeline such as " CUTBLOCKS "

ALPINE......HIGH

TREELINE.....HIGH

BELOW TREELINE....HIGH

We are expecting all that Freash Snow soooo when The Storm has passed ...

Travellers Should Explore Simple Terrain, while assessing changes to the Local Condition's.

Today Blue River has Sunny Sky's and a Temp. of +1

We Recieved about 30+ cms. Yesterday and Last Night !!

The Sun is out Now BUT !... Don't let that Fool Ya.....

They are Calling for another 30+cms. again !... Starting tonight !!

REMEMBER ....It is " WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS !! "

SLOW DOWN ....These Mountain Roads are " VERY TREACHEROUS " AT Times !!

Watch for the Elevated Corners !!...They are the Worst !!

Also Bridge Decks are Covered in Ice ALL the Time due to the Mist off the Water !

When Driving also Try and Keep it as " SMOOTH " as You can ...If You Have to pass...Do Not Jerk out real fast ...Do it like ...Slow Motion...Nice and Smooth...

The Weather Systems We are Having right now they are called .....

The Pineapple Express ....These Systems start in Hawaii and are FULL of LOT'S of Precipitation....

By the Time they reach Us They BURST OPEN ....and Whala....

Blue River gets the Perfect amount of Fresh Snow that is " CHAMPANGE POWDER " WICKED.....

Anywho They are Calling for yet Another System is Set to Arrive Again Tonight !!

There is a VERY Warm Breeze Blowing right Now !!....

The Snow that We will get will Be..... VERY WET and Heavy Snow !!

I can see the Avalanche Danger could Change and May go Higher !!

The Avalanche Center will Post a New Update Today sometime ...

BUT Recognize the Avalanche Risk WILL ELEVATE !!

To Reduce Your risk , Ride away from well defined Avalanche paths, and be Very Cautious in Steep Terrain , including below Tree Glades.

Obvious Signs of instabilities, such as Shooting Cracks , whumpfing Sounds and recent Avalanches, should have You thinking about making a Move to Low Angle Terrain.

AVALANCHE ACTIVITY.....

People Triggering Avalanches will remain the Primary Concern Thursday and Friday. If the Storms arrive as forecast , Expect a Cycle of Natural Avalanches Continuing Through Thursday !

Avalanches will likely iniate on North and East facing Slopes in the Alpine , and Steep Treeline Terrain due to Loading by Wind transported Snow .

They will likely run on the January 26 Weak Layer.

The Forecast is for ...ANOTHER 30CMS. BY FRIDAY.....Yahoooooo !!

I can see that Blue River will see 20 + Feet of Snow ..." IN TOWN ' ...LOL

The Salt is starting to work after last night Snow Squall ....WOW

The System came in fast with a BLAST !!

Right now the HI-WAY is Slippery due to Water sitting on the Compact Road !

They are Salting like Crazy !!
