just blew my 09 d8 up this weekend, stumped on what to do to try and prevent this from happening again.

have heard of cold flashes causing piston scoring and just the old polaris problem that everyone is sick of!

lots of things could have happened
bad fuel, wrong fuel grade, snow ingestion, high revs, wrong jetting, need more info.

Are you running a pc5? It seems to be the best fix.
