I have A 2007 Summit 800R. When I bought this sled the story was that it had a new 08 800R crate motor installed in it. I am About to order a piston kit and I'm not 100% sure what part # I need. Do all the 2007 to 2011 800R motors have the same bore? How can I tell the difference between the 800 engines. The engine in my sled is a mono block. There are no tags or numbers on the block That I can see. 793, 797.80????

Ok i have the same boat. Ok if it has the cageless piston pin bearings its still the 07 style engine. Mine had the updated engine but what have found that the 08 engines are just as bad for the mag bearing inner going out. Mine had 1000 miles on the doo so called update engine under warranty. Look at my other posts for piston - crank problems below. I'd take the bottom out and check it. Cause if it goes and sucks crap up top then its 2000 instead of 700 to 1000 for a doo crank. Just a FYI

The motor in it is probably a new 07 800R engine or shortblock. The 08 engine will not fit in the rev platform as the mounts are different from the rev to xp. It will be updated to the latest greatest and is the 797 type engine. The 793 is the HO engine. Just tell the dealer you have an 07 and they will give you the proper piston kit. Good luck!

i am pretty sure that the 797 (800r) where all the same from 07 - 09 just there were some modifications that skidooo did from 07-08 but they will all fit in the rev platform there is a mounting plate that holds the engine that might be different but the engines will bolt to the mounting plates

Boots is correct The 'o8 motor will fit into the rev chasis as the bottom of the crank case is set-up to accept the rev motor mounting plate. But the '07 800r will not fit into a XP as it doesn't have the proper mounting spots on the crankcase for that.

Thanks for the info .Got hung up at work. I plan to pull the engine this week and tear it down and inspect it. I have put 5500 khms on this engine with no issues. Any tips on what to check for on the crrankshaft.Hate to replace it if it's not needed. My sledding budget for the season will take a hit but better to suck it up now rather than more later.

Dial indicator. Checking the crank runout ( how much it wobbles ).
