Check for spark, check the compression(should b over 100psi for sure), check the fuel comin out of the tank. Its called the triangle of combustion, u must have all 3 for a motor to run good.

Maybe a carb job, drain the carb into a container and check the gas that came out, any water? fine dust?

Check the vent tubes from the carb, maybe pinched.

have u tried spittin a little gas into cyl and firing?

Whats the spark plug look like? all wet? fouled? correct plug? Dry?

probaly the valves need to be adjuted. when they get too far out of adjustment it makes for hard starting. check out polarispros dot com or polarisproriders dot com. Both sites have alot of predy oweners and they know their chit.

why not contact the original owner, he may have had this problem and knows how to fix it.

Or do that but if he had this problem he has not fixed it if it is still doing it. The previous owner is probaly aware of the isue and didnt know what the problem was and that is why it was sold. start with adjusting you valves, it is somthing that should be done regularly anyway.
