A couple of us are heading out with quads to Blue Rapids by Drayton Valley next Wednesday (26th) if anyone wants to meet up.
Never been there before but it looks good on Google maps and is only about 45 minutes from home so we thought we would give it a try as a shake down first run of the season.

If your heading west toward Drayton Valley on highway 39 you make a left at the last road before you go down the big hill to the river valley it's range road 71, once on 71 you make a right at the second dirt road (about 1 km) it's a very short dirt road and you can stage at the end of it. Or you can go to the third dirt road (about 3 km), this road winds it's way down to water level and you can stage down there. Both staging areas hook up by quad trails so it doesn't matter which staging area you want to use, we are going to use the closer one and ride the quads down to river level.
Here is a link to the web page, nice thing is it clearly shows quading allowed plus big jeeps & 4X4 trucks are not allowed on the quad trails hoging out the mud holes.

Only sad thing is no off grid camping allowed, just day use.

I rode those trails last year around this time. Found the best staging area is up top on the gun range road. Watch where you're going cause alot of the trails were flooded and had to back track quite a bit.

OK thanks, looks like that's just a bit further south, when you say "up top" I take it you didn't follow the road down as far as the gun club?

Just a FYI it's probably the wettest it's been in that area in the past 3 decades ....
The roads & creeks are flooding almost everywhere ...
Lots of fast melting snow out here ....
Make for a fun ride !

It was really good, quite a few trails ended up being dead ends due to flooded trails or streams but there was lots of good trails, lots of water in the holes and we were actually helped by the frost in the muskeg areas as only the top foot or so was thawed mud with a solid bottom so no sinking.
We ended up going in the gun range road as suggested by Lutherrng and there is a great staging area just about one km in.

Are these the Brazeau ATV club trails?

I think so, there was one trail where someone was installing a quad sized bridge over a particularly big stream, I assume it must be Brazeau ATV club putting that in.
My son and I were talking about joining the club and Volunteering some time to help with trail maintenance, unfortunately I have to work every Saturday which seems to be when most things are planned.

Was a bit more west last weekend. Was really wet but had a great ride. Vance is putting snorkels on because of that area right now. He got a wet belt.

I just joined the Brazeau ATV club, at least I think I did as the receipt I got back said I donated to the Eagle Point/Blue Rapids parks council.
I think it's more important than ever to join a club with what the government is doing these days, plus I'd like to contribute to the trails that I enjoy using so much.
