Hey guys, just looking for info on how many km/miles people are getting on a turbo'd 2stroke. lets hear what everyone's got going on.
- year, make, model?
- brand of turbo kit?
- km/miles before major repair?
- fuel ran?
- boost ran?

Aaaaaaaaaand GO!

I think your going to have a big spread in mileage. some much inconsistencies with turbo sleds/ operators. Also should be asking how much boost too. Etecs seem to run good on aerochargers just the rods like to come out of the crankcase with 8 plus pounds of boost. And that will happen with anyone's turbo kit, would suggest taking some compression out of the head. Low boost would prolly be your best way to go, but what's the fun in that?

Yes boosted the whole time. kit came off my 2011 as soon as i got it.. Had some issues at the start but after it got sorted out been great ever since. i run 8 lbs boost 50- 50 premium av. Lots of oil. 40:1 in the tank and boosted oil pump. I believe its the oil that kept it going so long. On my 11 no pump boost and 50:1 in the tank broke rod at 2000km.

Lets just say when i go up top I never think twice about engine problems. Its clutching and drive line thats my issue. Been drug down at least ten times over broken clutches and broken drivers and driveshafts, and i service my clutches every two rides.

2014 xm. Tss instaboost from new. 6-8 pds boost. Straight av. Threw a rod at 800 km. Hav 5200km and hav not had a problem since 800km. I did hav problem withe pipe first 800 km as well. When tss put in new motor they had built pipes from heavier gauge and thats been trouble free since as well. Looking back, i believe my early problems had alot to do with me tinkering with clutching and over revving/backfiring.

I heard the first release of the instaboost had a bad pipe and was poppin engines like crazy. maybe they found the issue there.

2011 Polaris Assault (installed a 162x3" camo track around 3000 k), BD @ 6 lbs boost with push to pass button at 10 lbs, 50/50 av/prem, 7000+ klm no issues. Opened up motor at 1500 klm, put in new pistons but did not really need them, rebuilt clutch twice and chain case once.
2013 Polaris pro 163, BD @ 8 lbs boost, 50/50 av/prem, 3200 klm, bounced the bottom quick drive sprocket off a stump and broke bottom sprocket otherwise no issues.
2015 Polaris pro 163x3", BD (bigger turbo with inner cooler) @ 12 lbs boost, 100% av, around 3000 klms, no turbo related issues to date. One repairable ghost ride incident!!!
Currently waiting on my new 2018 Axy and have a low boost BD, non intercooled (6-8 lb) kit on order :p

I have had absolutely no issues with the BD kits, some fine tuning on first trip or two out and good to go on all three sleds. I am not a fan of drilling the hole in tunnel for tunnel dump exhaust but so far no issues. The Axy turbo system will utilize the factory exhaust outlet...

The way it was explained to me is the etec motor , when it senses an overev it cut all power quickly. That often creates a backfire. Like a litl bomb going off in intake. Not good. After my early issues with my machine, iv got two primary clutches. If im gona ride at low elevation ijust change primarys.

Our T&T Thunderstruck rider Linden got quite a few KM in each season on his last 2 M8000s. His 2016 M8000 came back in perfect condition with 2379km and the 2017, also perfect, has around 2800km. Both boosted!

Engines can also pop if they're extremely lean and are starting to detonate.......

I had a oiling issue which caused more issues then I want to talk about. lots of other HM kits have made many miles before needing repair. I got 800 before issues started after rebuilding the engine.

I have ran a bd turbo for 3 years on a built 2012 pro rmk, I went through 2 motors in probably 5000k the problem was not the turbo, we replaced the crank with a new one when we first put the turbo on lasted about 30 minutes, put another new one in lasted about 10 rides. We figured out the bearings where not pressed in properly causing failure. Finally we dropped a axys crank in it and never had a problem again. I should also mention it was a big bore kit before the turbo so the motor was built with a turbo and big bore. i ran straight av gas with oil in the fuel and ran at 7-10 pounds of boost 14 when I ran c16. I would probably never not ride a turbo sled from now on for how much more work and effort it is 100 percent worth it. We have a 2016 axys with a bd sidekick 6lbs kit and it's awesome as well. We are building a new cat with a turbo so I'm hoping it's going to be as much fun as the 2012 pro rmk.

I'd have to agree, on my old turbo proclimb it was never the motor I worried about and I sold it with around 5000 miles on it. Clutching and reeds were part of the maintenance requirements though
