Funny, I logged into the forum specifically to put my sled in the classifieds. Why? The cost vs fun factor. In my situation my passion is dirt biking and the sled was secondary so its an easy to decide which one to give up.
The additional costs of maintaining another motor, insurance, having...
The screws are probably JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) Phillips. Suzuki loves them.
Amazon and Ebay offer a couple of different brands. Though I have found that Snap-On phillips screwdrivers usually to a pretty good job of taking them out. But at the end of the day allen head screws...
The P.O. of my sled tried a Kimpex tether. It was backwards compared to the Cat tether. I can't remember if the Cat tether is normally open or normally closed but it is backwards to most aftermarket set ups. I ended up going with the Cat tether to simplify things.
OP, I was in your same position last year. Looking for a reliable mountain sled to get my foot in the door. I had a little higher budget and ended up with an '11 M8 SnoPro. I think it was a good choice.
As far as things to lookout for on the M series sleds:

PLB's are the high powered version of an Inreach or Spot. It's code is registered to the government's/military rescue network (SARSAT). It's the same system that a lifeboat's or helicopter's emergency beacon would be tracked by.
Having Inreach would allow the 2 way communication and a...
I think the Inreach and a PLB are a great combo.

The PLB would be used for the end of the world situations and would be the most reliable way of getting a distress signal out.
Yup, a good read. I was actually working offshore when the Kullak hit the skids. But even with that article being a long read I guarantee we only heard a 1/4 of the true story.
This happened to a buddy of mine. The guy called and said he would drop by on Saturday night to look at his mx bike at his house. The guy never showed. My buddy and his wife went too supper on Sunday night. When they got home they found that the garage was broken into and his bike was gone...
Figured I would update this thread with my new to me sled:
'11 M8 SnoPro, 2500kms, brand new reeds, running boards and DD bearing. Has a vent kit, can, cover and came with a spare 5203 DD bearing and a spare DD rebuild kit. The best part is the sled was owned by an old friend who is an...
I have looked at a couple sleds but nothing has caught my eye yet.
What is the relationship between engine hours and kms? How many hours does it on average take to get to 1000kms?
