tunnel extension help

I have a 2006 1000 RT with a 151 can i use rail extensions to go to a 159 without extending my tunnel

I thought I could go without, going 136-144 but ended up cutting my snoflap off 1hr into the first ride of the year, folded under when suspension compressed.
