I just got a 18-55 lens (came with the camera) and a 55-250 zoom lens. Both are IS.

SWEET!

What was the ISO in pic 2 and the aperature in pic 6?

Guessing: ISO in pic 2 would have been low to allow for a longer shutter speed to blur the motion of the water falling... Doesn't look like a terribly bright day, but I'd say ISO is 100 or less and shutter speed is about 1/20sec or 1/13sec...

Aperature in picture 6 appears to be about f8 -f11. See how the trees in the front are sharper than the mountain in the depth planes behind it? When shooting landscapes, it is best to go higher in aperature (f 22 and up) so that the picture is crisp from front to back. I also think a UV haze filter would have helped this picture a little- it would crisp the edges and brighten colors somewhat...

Just guessing-- I mostly just responded to cuz I am curious to see how close I am

PS- I am loving this thread and all the great pictures I see :)

On my phone the rose is #6, but on my oversized editing screen, #6 is the mountain ?!?

Aperture for rose is probably f4 or f4.5...

Nice lines and composition in the frost pic John! Your focus is tack sharp too... Love it ;)

great thread and timing as we just bought a Nikon D3100 with 18-55 and 55-200 lens. I read the manual cover to cover and all I managed to retain is AUTO mode :d I did manage to snap the following pictures but not sure how I managed to get the one with my daughter so nice. One with the snow covered peak is too bright so what should have I done in this case?

Awsome pictures love the waterfall i have a D90 what lens do you use?

The Lens I shoot with is a VR 18-105mm.

What was the ISO in pic 2 and the aperature in pic 6?

The ISO in the waterfall Picture is set to 100. This waterfall is in a very dark place I dont think the sun shines on it at all.

The aperture in Picture 6 of the rose is F8. For the mountian its at F4, this day had smoke coming from BC into Alberta covering Crowsnest Mountian. Good guess Sledmamma
