IS this a good sledding area and does anyone have directions to get into there from off the 734 north. Or do you go in south of Nordegg?

Also i see there is Ranger Creek, Onion, Hummingbird. What are these areas like and are they all open for sleds dec 1.

Want to get in there when the snow is good enough.

Thanks All:beer::beer:

areas are open for sleds as of dec 1, may not be enough snow as the wind blows hard and snow can disappear quickly, thus riding on gravel. if we get the snow these areas are great for sledding. stay on trails as you can get fined, for of trail excursions. check for snow conditions, and get some avi gear. sugar bowl is high avalanche as is humming bird falls area.
keep checking thread for updates.

So its all trails in there aswell, no little bowls or open rolling hills a person can get into legally.

I tried getting into the sugarbowl year before last, was very tight trail to get there and low snow. was actually no snow on the face you had to climb to get into the bowls. never actually made it. this was in late feb. best bet would be to guide it or go with someone who knows the area first time.

It would be nice to go west an hour to get into some nice mountain riding, rather than 4-5 hours.

Sent Safari Guy a pm maybe he will post some "honey holes":beer:

lots of riding areas in designated sled areas. last few years not a lot of snow, generally you have to go out to see if there is enough, as they are out of the way. chinooks take whatever snow there is away fast. lots of rocks and stumps in low snow, but these areas are usually a blast. you can also try baseline area as trees keep snow from blowing away. just keep watching weather reports and sites like this.

All these areas are a lot of fun. Normally the snow is not good enough until spring riding. We always go in later in the year depending on snow/usually in march. Snow seems to pile up around then. Sugar bowl will get it earlier. Sugar bowl is very steep and tight trail in. It is a blast in there. If you know some of the area off route you can get some good powder rides in. Lots of slides in this area. One day alone we brought down 6 slides. For the most part they are smaller slides but we saw one that piled up 10 feet deep across the trail. Onion and ranger generally arent worth going into until later in the year. Lots of bowls in there too. Have to stay on the trail until you are in the bowl areas.
