reconditioned motor?

hey guys,

does anyone know where i could pick up a 2001 ski doo summit 800 motor that is rebuilt or reconditioned.

i was thinking of calling total recreation.

any thoughts/suggestions?

what are you looking to spend. brand new shortblocks are only 1800 and worth every penny

Agreed with Maxwell on the shortblock from BRP. For extra $300 you get a factory motor I think (not sure) with 1yr warranty

yep they are fully remanufactured. bearings, cylinders, pistons, rod bearings, rings, the works.

just need to swap over your goods. and yah warranty is 90 days if you install and 1 year if the dealer installs...

then again if you call around that changes quite a bit.

might be a noob question, but thats the difference between a short block and the stock motor?

short block is the stock motor.

it only includes the botton end, water pump, crank, cases, cylinders. pistons and gaskets

all assembeled.


you need to add your head, stator, oil pump and rave valves.


this is a shortblock on my workbench as it comes from brp

are the prices regulated by BRP across canada? or will price vary between shops?

Just curious... what would a dealer charge to do the job??? how many hrs should it be?

my dealer out east did. but it was a special case with another blown motor with a cracked case in the shop and him wanting to help the guy out
