Opening up the airbox?

I have a 2002 summit and i noticed the other day how much stuff their was in the air box(foam, air horns, screens). I was wondering if i could take all that stuff out to help it breath better or will this mess up the DPM?

Someone did it over on DooTalk, and didn't find any difference. I would like to hear from someone first hand though.

My buddy did it on his 02 800 and it promptly blew up, he was told by the split second(can't remember his name) dude from Valleyview that there is no advantage unless you do porting, headwork etc.

Done the gutting on a couple of RMK'S..... Noticed the difference up stairs, Gave them more wind. Have not had any problems YET !

Gutted the airbox on the Kingcat,did so much other stuff not sure it helped,did not hurt though!
