My brother sent a few workers to Hinton today. They got turned around highway is closed. Detour through Grand Prairie 40km before Edson.

I was just in Edson. Pouring rain hard. Hope it's enough to make a difference. Apparently the fire is just 1.5 km south of Canadian Tire.
Glad they are getting some moisture but that's way too close to town

I just hope they let the helicopters and planes back in Edson this time during the evac.

Last time they evacuated the planes out, and they did again this time and staged them in Hinton.

Someone one or maybe more than 1 person has been lighting fires in Red Deer, thankfully its too green and they put them out quickly.

Been raining hard since 4pm yesterday here, hopefully the north end of the province is getting it too.

Getting light Sprinkles on/ off in our Red Deer area...

Its clouded over which will help from the hot temps we've had the last few days...

Some crops in low lying areas don't look bad,,, stuff on top of the hills or in sandy areas isnt doing good at all...

Definitely a dry year

Here in GP it started raining at my place yesterday afternoon and it is still raining this morning. I know it has been raining in Spirit River since yesterday as well so hopefully this is helping the fires at Boone Lake and the huge one up by Worsley.

Looks like the street is wet in Edson.
sounds like the 8pm update from Town of Edson may have some good news for you Matt!

If you're rural and north of town, you can go home starting at 6pm tonight.

We're at 2" ish inches of rain as of this morning in Red Deer and area...

A bit late for Steller an area as their crops took a beating with the dry start,,, definitely a shortage of feed for producers in this province...

I hope the West Country along the Eastern Slopes is getting some of this moisture,,, it was tinder dry in a few spots...

Thanks for the updates,,, very interesting too hear whats going on in your folks areas...

Cheers all

They announced at Noon today, that Edson can re-enter starting at 6pm this evening, but must be on 4 hour evac notice.

Lots of moisture in the forecast which I really hope will help to push this thing back and help get the upper hands.
