i have been a lurker here for a loooong time and joind awhile ago anyway

my family was given an old enduro that a friend had bought i believe new and he rode it alot then he laid it over once and parked it ,it has very low kms and is in really good shape other than a few minor things ....he brought it here and we had it running but it got parked for awhile then we couldn't get it running again any way the bike is now mine (if i can get it running)

the problem is in the stator and more specifically in where i can find parts and info regarding this bike

i will try to post pics if they will help later today....thanx for ANY help , info or links etc

Being that it's red with twin shocks I would guess at an early 80's Honda xl model. I got an 81 XL500s myself. Of course the previous owner wanted a "dirt bike" so he stripped all the signals, lights and speedo off of it.

Being that it's got dual rear shocks I would say then that it's a late 70's model. I used to have an mx100 which was a '79 that was dual shock and then an '81 mx175 that was a mono. The mx and enduro were the exact same bike other than the enduro was a dual purpose complete with speedo and signals, were the mx just had a head and tail light. Mx's were white and the only enduros I've seen were grey tho.

Something makes me think that on the steering column the serial number is stamped there and can give u a clue as to what year it may be. The year might actually be part of the serial number if I remember correctly.

I will have to go out and check the serial number on one I have that runs great...it is a 1972 Yamaha 360 enduro. It is grey but I also have a 73 orange tank for it. Alot of time if those sat for awhile (especially outside) they would get moisture in behind the flywheel which would affect the points. Would have to pull off the flywheel and clean the points then it should run fine..

Northern Bear is right that is a DT 250 and 1975 sounds right. Try using a fine file or sand paper to clean the points then check to see if it has a spark.

i think thats the problem but does anyone know where i can get parts...i might have broke it during removal but the whole setup was coverd in corrosion so i think thats was the original problem but this is the problem now

any other photos that would be of use ...or interest or sugggestions on things to improve on in photos or the bike would be welcome as well as appreciated
