Those are pretty far fetched claims on the longevity. Whats the recommendation on motor services. Are the bearings on the motors oil bath? Are they greasable, sealed? 8 years and 192000km is a long time to go without some sort of a service.

To be fair, more people would be onboard with the tech, if there was documented real world tests done on the product. Right now this seems like more consumer R&D.
If this was a bigger automotive company that has the network of dealers to support their warranty , and their product. Than IMO it would be less of a risk purchasing a tesla product. I think the technology is great, and good on the people willing to invest on a new product.
I personally do not feel comfortable investing in a company’s product, that is still going through its infant mortality stage. I will continue to remain skeptical until the real world numbers come to light.

I would say that Tesla is proving their technology.

Cummins has millions of engines on the road no question there. But they also have how many in the shop getting replaced or rebuilt? I've seen new ones not make it 3 months

and that sir, is why they have warranty.

and once again no real world validation on their claims. Tesla may be a good product, and may indeed meet what they say, but in reality they are so into hype to drive stocks that it tends to make one hesitant to drink the koolaid.

So Cummins knows their product is going to fail so they give you the first fix for free but you are out of pocket for everything around the warranty, clutch, mounts or anything the jr lube tech brakes while putting in your new 30,000 dollar engine that only has 1 year of coverage. Hmmm yup sounds like a good plan

Good website with no information. They’re a startup with no proven technology, history or facilities for recycling.

Not sure what you mean? You get an engine under warranty, you still have the remaining warranty you purchased, either new vehicle or extended. If something happens while warranty work is being done, that is still covered by warranty.

Maybe you have a Cummins bee up your arse, I have no idea, buy warranty basically works the same way for any brand.

So when Cummins tests their diesel engine until failure they just set the warranty at 1km before the engine blows up?

The point is they are not proven. Anyone knows if it's a Cummins it has reliability, they don't need to prove anything to anyone. Telsa hasn't, and if they are so confident in the product their warranty should be closer to the lifespan. A engine also has a lot more factors in it's lifespan out of the manufactures control compared to a battery.

I actually have a Cummins, no bee up anywhere. The point is that obviously they haven't been on the market as long as the big manufacturers but there was a time when people said the automobile itself would never catch on or that cellphones and computers wouldn't sell. It's new technology yes but like most things if people don't embrace it your going to be left behind

please show proof of that statement.

Your darn good at assumptions, how about facts?

You quoted my post but said someone said a diesel engine is more reliable then an electric motor, which I did not say at all. I said Cummins has proven reliability, whereas Telsa needs to prove their product still, and they don't know the exact lifespan. At no point did I said the diesel engine is more reliable. If Tesla's so perfect why is Cummins, Detroit, etc still in business? Every fawking semi on the road should be electric by now because they are more reliable then a diesel?
