Morkill and Cushing

All day ride Sat. rode to 54km on the Morkill and to about 12km on the Cushing. Saw 2 blacks a bunch of large white tail and porcupines. We acually hit a black with the quad, he came out of the left hand ditch, locked up the brakes and hit him in his hind quarters rolling him down the road and into the ditch. All was ok with the quad and bear was long gone. Great day, finnally got to see the large waterfall at the back of the Morkill, man they are big. Pic`s don`t show it like it really is.

Thanks Barry. 12 km up the Chusing why not further?? Are there places to camp along the Morkill River??? Where did you start from? Looking to come up end of July as long as plans dont change. Will stop in for visit

started from the Fraser River, no campgrounds on the Morkill and we ran out of gas and time to go furthur, will be going back for sure. lots of places to camp if you just want to squat, there is a new campground a few km away and the last 2 pic is from there. no power and very rustic but right on the Fraser.
end of July???I think I am in the Shuswap then.

Here's a short clip of the falls after a inch or so of rain. The ledge BB was standing for pics gets submerged.

Very pretty, be very careful around the falls there are no safety rails or proper paths, you fall in i doubt you will survive.

You can access the falls from the 'back' by taking the first right turn a couple of clicks past the falls and doubling back on yourself. Or you can get in from the river by starting a few kms below the falls, both require a little bush walking.

Loads of wildlife in the Morkill, average bear sightings over the past weekend where 6-8 per day per group, l went out on Monday and saw 1 grizz, 2 adult blacks and 3 black cubs.

There's also a stunning free legitimate BC campsite at La Salle lake, which is 50km west of McBride around 10km from the Morkill FSR.

lve caught white fish after the falls, i don't know about any trout species though, saying that im no great fisherman. l caught trout lower down the Morkill. Goat river is about the same distance from La Salle, ive had good fishing there.

La Salle lake is great (caught trout there) clean, and RCMP patrolled, regularly on long weekends. l believe there is a ATV riding ban around the actual campsite.
