Well I was thinking about selling the Assault and buying a long track sled (M8 or M1000 maybe dragon) but then had the thought of long tracking the Assault.

Can someone tell me what is involved and approx cost?

track 1000
rail extensions or new rails 150-300

drivers maybe depends on what track 300

do it yourself save a good day

probly 500$ labour at a shop

what length were you considering

you will also need a gearing change.....so another 150 or so.

maybe some clutch adjustment

yah thats everything brand new and whanot. theres lots of good deals on tracks on sites like this. but yah 1500-2000 id say.

were you going to do it yourself?

what length is the sled now? what length do you want to go to?

you MIGHT need a tunnel extension depending on how much longer you go.

Sled is 146" now and I would want to go to a 162" 163". No point in changing it unless I go all out. I plan to play in the mountains alot this year.

What track would be the best to go with? I hear the new Arctic Cat track is good.

to go that long you cant use rail extensions and would need a tunnel extension.

your best bet might be to look on snowest or something.

most of those guys are turboing there dragons and are using aftermarket skids and tracks.

might be able to get the whole setup pretty cheap. from a 155 or 163

otherwise im not sure on polaris if you can use the rails from a longer machine or not

get ice age rails made and van amburgh has tunnel extensions specially designed for the tunnel

now i dont know if they make them to go from a 146 to 163 with the van amburg tunnel ext you would have to phone

but you could easily go from a 146 -155 with tracks usa 155-163 rail extensions and get a 155-163 tunnel extension, and put the 153 cat track on, this is what i would do cheapest, fastest and cleanest. ive ran rail extensions before some people dont like them but ive never bent mine or heard of anyone bending theirs.

I had my sled kicked out the back from a 136 to a 151. Mountain Magic, in Edmonton, a few years ago. I was quite impressed with what they did, and how much it cost. I had it done in the summer, so there was no rush. Give them a call.
