Has anyone re-inforced their frame on their BRP's, and if so how?
I was thinking of cutting out the lower frame in the back and re-inforcing with some square tubing.

Google "outlander frame mod"....there are instructions and pictures on several sites describing exactly what you want.

I installed an All Terrain Research (ATR Website)frame insert. You cut out the back and hammer it in. It will also straighten out small dings in the frame as you hammer it in. Heres a picture of the installation process. It was pretty tough to get in but I now have a much stiffer frame and only added around 10lbs.

Is frame failure a big issue on these 800's? I'm thinking of getting one and have a few buddies who have been riding them for awhile and this is the first I've heard of it.

Not really. I have 4 seasons on mine....no "frame mod" and no problems. You should run good skid plates however....if the frame gets a dent, it creates a weak spot.

Good point. I will keep that in mind when I pick up a new 800 next year.

I run Riccochett skid plates (aluminum) and haven't had any problems yet.

2011 has a factory frame support in it

Its only for about 16 inches of the front frame

Im going to leave the front mod out of my 2011 but wont run without skid plates.
